Account Deletion Policy

You have the right to permanently delete your MTNData account and all associated personal data at any time, free of charge. This page explains how deletion works and what data is affected.

How to Delete Your Account

Option 1 — In the App

  1. Open the MTNData app.
  2. Tap Profile in the bottom navigation.
  3. Tap Account Settings.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  5. Confirm deletion. Your account will be queued for permanent removal.

Option 2 — By Email

Send an email to privacy@mtndata.shop with:

  • Subject line: Account Deletion Request
  • Your registered email address

We will confirm deletion within 7 business days.

What Gets Deleted

The following personal data is permanently and irreversibly removed:

  • Name, email address, and hashed password
  • Phone number(s) linked to your account
  • Saved recipient numbers
  • XP points, badge records, and leaderboard entries
  • Wallet balance (any remaining balance is forfeited — please spend it before requesting deletion)
  • Push notification tokens
  • Profile preferences and settings

What Is Retained

To comply with financial regulations, fraud prevention obligations, and potential dispute resolution, transaction records (order IDs, bundle type, amounts, and delivery status) are retained for up to 3 years in anonymised form. After deletion, these records are not linked to your identity.

Wallet Balance Before Deletion

Any wallet balance remaining at the time of account deletion is forfeited and cannot be refunded. We strongly recommend spending your full balance before submitting a deletion request.

Irreversibility

Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted, you will need to create a new account to use MTNData again. Previous order history will not be recoverable.
